Playing with Building Blocks

Playing with Building Blocks by Brad Laird is a video lesson that will teach you eight useful and moveable licks which can be used to construct solos while improvising on the mandolin. Brad teaches each lick and then shows you how to move them to other locations to fit the chord progression of the song. Three complete 12 bar solos are taught, each one progressively more complex, using only the eight licks taught in the video. This lesson includes a jam track that you can use to practice soloing.

This course is delivered as a downloadable .zip file with a Quicktime video, MP3 jam tracks, and a 6-page PDF file with the tab and standard notation. The PDF also includes a bonus solo illustrating how Salty Dog can be played using these licks.
